National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate and thank people who give back to their community. Their priceless gifts of time and skills help us reach more people in need. For that, we are truly grateful.

​​​​​​Each year on the first Friday of June, The Salvation Army celebrates National Doughnut Day. This tradition started back in 1938. It was initially set up as a fundraising effort to honour the “Doughnut Lassies”, who bravely delivered doughnuts to soldiers on the frontline during the First World War.

Each year in mid-October, communities and organizations throughout British Columbia mark Homelessness Action Week. Community and grassroots events and projects are an important part of Homelessness Action Week and are key to supporting those experiencing homelessness.
